JOHN BERRY
John Berry is a US-American painter based in Indiana who uses his artistry to invent new worlds and cultivate vibrant discussions. Most recently, his work draws inspiration from the history and structures of allotment gardens and other communal spaces, exploring the implications for how we organize our images, our identity, and our communities.
Berry received his BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2004 and MFA from Indiana University in 2009. He has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Si Shang Museum in Beijing, Pilotenkueche in Leipzig, and PADA in Barreiro.
A finalist for the Abbey Scholarship in Painting, Berry has been awarded an Efroymson Family Fund Grant, the Louise Mcnutt Fellowship Grant, and a Della Fricke Teaching Award and has exhibited throughout the United States and internationally. Berry currently works at DePauw University as an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing.
